Session Abstract:

Representatives from leading hospitals in both the USA and China will discuss the following:

  • compare how modern hospital systems are developing in each country
  • what the challenges and opportunities for growth in each country
  • how clinicians and engineers are working together to build the partnership to advance medical device innovation
  • how to engage stakeholders in the whole innovation eco-system (hospital, university, manufacturer, government, funding agency and investor) to facilitate ideas definition, market discovery, product development, and delivery.

The audience will have a chance to ask questions of the speakers.

Yue DongYue Dong, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Mayo Clinic
Yue Dong, M.D., is a patient safety and health care delivery researcher in the Multidisciplinary Epidemiology and Translational Research in Intensive Care (METRIC) group. He works in collaboration with faculty from Mayo Clinic Multidisciplinary Simulation Center and Mayo Clinic's Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery Health Care Systems Engineering Program.

Dr. Dong uses various systems of engineering to conduct health care delivery research, including field observation, failure mode effective analysis, workflow analysis and redesign, and usability testing of information systems.
