Zhaohui Li"The Exploration of Medical Service Pattern of Cardiovascular Disease in China: From Vision to Reality"

From 1988 to 1996,8-year study in Europe and U.S.; served as a visiting scholar, clinical researcher, post-doctor fellow and visiting professor at UPEC Medical School, School of Medicine of Yale University, University of Oregon and Medical School of Western University. Experienced in CABG, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, transmyocardial laser revascularization, heart-lung transplantation and heart-assist device, heart valvuloplasty and therapy of children complex congenital heart disease.

Once won 8 scientific achievements at national, ministerial and Beijing municipal level, including “the first prize of national S&T progress of Ministry of Education”, “the second prize of S&T progress of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology” and “the first prize of S&T progress of Qingdao City” etc.

Published over 70 papers in the domestic and overseas professional magazines; an editor-in-chief of 4 monographs; engaged in editing and translating 6 monographs. Dedicated to education and fostered 4 doctoral candidates and 5 graduate students. He has made outstanding contributions to the cardiovascular surgery of China. He is an internationally renowned expert of cardiovascular surgery, as well as a leader of minimally invasive off-pump coronary artery bypass.

 

Zhaohui Li"Future of Medical Devices"

Qinxian Jin, Dean of the Office of Technology Transfer and Deputy Secretary General of Tsinghua University
Dr. Qinxian JIN leads the University's effort in connecting the research-driven academia with market-driven industry to create technology innovations. Under his leadership, the Office of Technology Transfer works on establishing an effective technology transfer system with multiple service modules to promote collaborations between Tsinghua's departments/schools and various industry sectors. The Office also manages the University's strategic investment platforms and international collaborative projects in technology transfer as well as several industrial research institutes that receive funding and support from the local governments and industries.

Dr. Jin has held multiple positions regarding technology transfer and industrial relations at the University. Previously, he served as Deputy Director of Beijing Tsinghua Industrial Research and Development Institute, Director of R&D Management Department of Tsinghua University, Director of International Technology Transfer Center of Tsinghua University, and Assistant to President of Tsinghua Holdings Co. Ltd. He also possesses rich academic experience, serving as Associate Professor at Department of Environmental Engineering of Tsinghua University for several years.

Dr. Jin obtained his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Tsinghua University.

 

Zhaohui Li"MRO Strategy to Accelerate Medical Device Product Development"

Medical device life cycle management process is always complex. Total timing and cost spent during the process are two key factors for the final project performance evaluation. MRO (medical research organization) approach is designed to accelerate medical device product development, by optimizing the schedule to achieve the objectives in the most timing and cost efficient way.

Dr. Zhaohui Li currently is NAMSA APAC Sales Director. He is responsible for the business development of NAMSA global pre-clinical testing, clinical research and regulatory consulting business in the Asia Pacific market. Zhaohui has organized many medical device summits and made many speeches at international and domestic conferences. He has also developed and participated in training courses for many device companies and authorities. Dr. Li previously worked in TUV SUD Singapore lab as a GLP Study Director. He managed more than 150 GLP safety and efficacy studies. Prior to TUV SUD, he worked in National Cancer Center Singapore as a research fellow, where he managed a lung cancer clinical study. Zhaohui obtained his Ph.D. in neuroscience from National University of Singapore and BS in Biochemical Pharmaceutics from Jilin University, China.

 

Pete Madson"Discovering Unmet Needs & Opportunities"

R&D teams take pride in their ability to innovate and solve problems in creative ways, but many organizations struggle when it comes to identifying unmet needs & opportunities worth investing in. This talk will highlight how Ethnographic Research methods such as Clinical Immersion, Workflow Mapping & Situated Interviews can be used to gain empathy, understand context and discover unmet needs & opportunities that often times go unarticulated by stakeholders.

Peter is a seasoned healthcare consultant with 18 years of award winning user-centered medical device development experience in both North America (8 years) and Asia (10 years). He is a partner and 16-year veteran of Worrell, a US based healthcare design and innovation consulting firm. Peter holds numerous US & Chinese patents and serves many notable clients around the world including Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Baxter, BD, Boston Scientific, St. Jude, Smiths, Zimmer Biomet & Microport.
