2013 Medical Devices Industry Job Fair
Tuesday, April 9, 5:30-7:30, Pinnacle Ballroom, The Commons Hotel
The Design of Medical Devices Conference is hosting a unique opportunity for those seeking employment to network with Medical Device industry professionals and companies. The Medical Devices Job Fair will be held at The Commons Hotel (formerly University Hotel Minneapolis) on Tuesday, April 9th from 5:30-7:30 pm.
There is NO fee to attend the job fair and NO registration required.
Participating Companies:
Companies who wish to participate in the Medical Devices Industry Job Fair can register online starting January 1, 2013. There is a fee of $100/current-conference sponsors and $200/non-conference sponsors. Participating companies will be given: 1-6 ft skirted table and 2 chairs. Table Top Displays are not allowed. You may put out promotional materials for your company.

How to Prepare for the Fair
BEFORE THE FAIR:
- Create or update your resume.
- Make 10-15 copies of your resume on quality paper.
- Research the organizations attending so you can talk easily to the ones that interest you.
- Prepare a few sentences to introduce yourself.
- Come up with a few questions to ask the company reps.
- Consider your clothes! Plan to look professional.
Women: Professional-looking dress, dress suit, or pantsuit; clean and comfortable shoes.
Men: Suit or jacket; shirt and tie; clean and comfortable shoes
DURING THE FAIR:
- Look professional! Dress as if you're going on a formal interview.
- Remember to take copies of your resume.
- Start by visiting the 1 to 2 organizations that interest you the most.
- Take notes. Get business cards from the people you talk to.
EXTRA TIPS:
- Turn off your cell phone! Phone interruptions are a huge pet peeve of recruiters.
- Take the time to talk and network.
- Don't ask about salary or benefits.
- Don't take a business card and run.
- Don't walk through the Fair with friends or family.
- Don't wait until the Fair's almost over to come to it.
AFTER THE FAIR:
- Follow up. Send thank-you notes to the companies that interested you or that might someday.

- CareerOneStop: Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, this site has numerous resources for job seekers, students, businesses, and career professionals, including the three tools listed below.
- O*NET: Use this interactive resource to explore and search occupations or to explore which occupations use your skills.
- Career Guide to Industries: This site provides detailed information about careers, including the nature of the industry, working conditions, training and advancement, earnings and benefits, employment outlook, and more.
- Interview Stream: Practice interviewing on the Webcam-based virtual mock interviewing tool. After you create an account, you can select questions, practice interviewing, and review your responses. Access to a Webcam required. The site also has a demonstration video to help you better understand this tool.
